Telstra MF 30 WIFI 3G modem review ZTE MF 30 WIFI Modem Review

The Telstra MF-30 WIFI modem actually a ZTE MF 30 modem. It is very easy to use, just slot in the sim card and copy down the WIFI password which is located at the back of the modem (See pic below).

It takes about 1 min to boot up and for your WIFI enable laptop to connect to it. No issues encountered while using this modem.

The modem will go into sleep mode when it notice inactivity, which is a good feature.

Only available for Telstra Next G network 850Mhz & 2100Mhz, not suitable for competitors 900Mhz 3G Network.

Good:
Small and light
Can connect up to 5 users
Cheap at about $99 with 5GB data free

Bad:
Battery last about 2 hours on a full charge

Overall:
Not Bad. :)

More details about starting up for the device:

  • 0 sec, Press on button and hold
  • 4 sec, Red Signal light starts, release the on button
  • 11 sec, Battery light starts
  • 17 sec, Data light starts
  • 1 min and 2 secs, Blue Wifi Light starts
  • Time to turn on the wifi on your pc :)

The only complain about this device is the slow start up time, the way to counter the slow start up time is to allow the modem to go into sleep mode when not in use.

The modem will "wake up" once the power button is pressed while in sleep mode, giving instant internet access.

A new wifi modem with OLED display is currently selling for $129 now.
